"When a person reaches certain milestones, achieves their goals, and receives honors, they often feel that it’s nothing extraordinary... One time, while having my celebration and eating an abalone, I remembered how my ex-boyfriend used to make me steamed chicken and vegetables in the rice cooker. I thought to myself how wonderful it would be if he were here with me."

STORY BACKGROUND

Inspiration of a Sex Volunteer Journey:

Since 2014, Wing has actively participated in the Taiwanese sexual volunteer organization "Hand Angel",  where she learned concepts of independent living and sexual practices among people with disabilities. Through this volunteer work, Wing gained a deep understanding of the non-traditional relationships and related insights of disabled individuals in both regions. She has profoundly experienced the structural problem existing in the sexual practices of people with disabilities in Hong Kong, where such interpersonal relationships are often depersonalized and stigmatized by society. In the past year, with support from local grants and encouragement from Hong Kong filmmakers, Wing continued the spirit of “Love has no Disability”, compiling these invaluable experiences into a personal work titled “What Disabilities Teach Us About Intimacy - A Sex Volunteer’s Journey in Hong Kong & Taiwan”. (2025).

“What Disabilities Teach Us About Intimacy” not only records and evaluates the transformations of several disabled individuals over the past decade but also explores the intersection between disability & sexuality in areas such as gender identity, social class, sexual orientation, sexual health education, support for sexual services, and sexual rights. Reflecting on a decade of sexual practices among people with disabilities, Wing unexpectedly discovered that the connection between disability and sexuality exists beyond the romantic and intimate frameworks of heterosexual/ Cisgender/ableism; it allowed her to deeply understand the uniqueness of disabled individuals' independent living, care, and intimate relationships, leading to various forms of alternative partnerships.

Our Vision:

Wing & Clayton hope that “What Disabilities Teach Us About Intimacy” will enhance public awareness of gender and disability issues and bring support and hope to related communities. Additionally, they have translated this work into an English electronic version, hoping that the reader can transform the wisdom of Hong Kong  and Taiwan’s activist insight  into advocacy power, providing reference material for academic research.
